Housing is essentially the built environment, but a safe, welcoming and affordable place to call home is vitally important to a personís overall well-being. Research has linked safe, affordable and healthy housing to reduced illness and a reduction in long-term health-care Housing is a key factor which influences community development. Municipalities must recognize this as a complex issue requiring a coordinated approach among multiple sectors and multiple levels of government.
